Private equity firm KKR to invest $300 million for a 13.33% stake in Advanta Enterprises, a subsidiary of UPL, a global agriculture solutions provider.

Following the transaction, seed company Advanta will operate as a standalone platform, with the goal of becoming a global sustainability leader in seeds. The investment comes at a time when food production is facing structural challenges as a result of geopolitical upheaval, rising population, shrinking arable land, declining productivity, and climate change. Advanta focuses on sustainable agriculture by providing farmers with quality hybrid seeds that are locally adapted. It operates in 84 countries throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Africa.
