Employee union NITES to Labour Minister: Alleges law violations in Amazon layoffs

Employee union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has written a letter to the Union Labour Ministry, requesting government intervention in Amazon’s layoffs in India.

The union for IT/ITeS employees accused Amazon of violating Indian labour laws in a letter to Labour Minister Bhupendra Yadav. According to NITES, it has received complaints from Amazon employees who claim they are being forced to leave the company voluntarily. Amazon recently announced that it will cut 10,000 jobs in the corporate and technology sectors globally. India employs 7% of the world’s workforce.
