Revue, the newsletter platform purchased by Twitter in January 2021, is closing its doors. The platform, which competes with Substack and Medium, assisted writers in monetizing their Twitter following by integrating their newsletters directly into the Twitter timeline.
Today, Revue announced to newsletter writers, “We’ve made the difficult decision to shut down Revue.” Writers have until January 18, 2023 to recover their data before it is permanently erased. According to app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi and Elon Musk himself, Twitter is working on making tweets 4,000 characters long instead of 280. Longer tweets, however, do not always compensate for the features that users will no longer be able to access through Revue.
