Bitbns admits $7.5 million hack in 2022

Share via:

Hours after reports surfaced that Bitbns was attempting to conceal a $7.5 million hack, crypto exchange founder Gaurav Dahake admitted that the startup had been compromised in 2022, but that it was not an unusual scenario.

This comes just hours after crypto researcher ZachXBT tweeted that the exchange was most likely concealing a hack that occurred last year under the guise of system maintenance. While the cofounder did not specify the amount of assets affected by the alleged hack, he dismissed it as “not uncommon” among crypto exchanges. Dahake also stated that crypto platforms regularly improve their security systems in the aftermath of such incidents, and that Bitbns has been operating’seamlessly’ since the cyber attack.
