Fintech unicorn OneCard has reported cyber fraud case to the Delhi Police, in which five fraudsters duped the startup into purchasing products worth INR 21.32 Lakh using credit cards. To obtain OneCard credit cards, the fraudsters used PAN numbers and the names of Bollywood actors and celebrities.

OneCard partners with banks such as IDFC Bank, South Indian Bank, Federal Bank, Bank of Baroda Financial, and SMB Bank to provide Visa credit cards. The problem was discovered when OneCard’s system received a notification that multiple onboarding attempts had been made from a single device. According to a PTI report, the five accused attempted to use 83 forged PAN details to sign up for the OneCard app on seven different devices. That’s not all. In addition, the startup sent physical credit cards to the addresses of the accused cyber criminals.

They used the PAN card number and date of birth (DOB) details of these celebrities, which were easily accessible via Google, to create the duplicate PAN cards. Following that, they put their pictures on the PAN card so that they could exactly match the picture updated on the PAN during the video verification. They forged details to create Aadhar Cards in a similar manner.
