Ashneer Grover criticizes BharatPe’s decision to disable social media comments

Share via:

In a sarcastic tweet, Ashneer Grover, former CEO of BharatPe, expressed his disapproval of the company’s management under Rajnish Kumar. Grover stated that BharatPe’s management is a “class act” and sarcastically added that it would become a “management case study.”

Grover highlighted a unique aspect of BharatPe, stating that it is the only Indian unicorn that has disabled its comments section across various social media platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, for the past 15 months. He claimed that BharatPe is the only fintech or startup in the world to take such a step since his departure from the company on March 1, 2022. Grover challenged others to verify this by attempting to leave comments on the company’s social media accounts.

In his tweet, Grover questioned the rationale behind disabling social media comments and criticized the move, suggesting that it restricts customers’ ability to express their concerns. He expressed his belief that the company is ignoring the voice of its customers and the ground reality, despite being heavily invested in its business.

By sarcastically asking, “Aisa kaun karta hai bhai?” (Who does this, my friend?), Grover implied that BharatPe’s decision to switch off social media comments is not a wise move. He emphasized the importance of allowing customers to provide feedback and share their experiences openly.

Grover’s tweet reflects his belief that stifling customer opinions and blocking social media interaction is not a conducive approach for a company, especially in the fintech sector. It remains to be seen how BharatPe and its management respond to Grover’s criticism and whether they reconsider their decision regarding social media engagement.
