According to an App Store developer log obtained by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly in the testing phase for an unreleased chip featuring a powerful 12-core CPU, an 18-core GPU, and a massive 36GB of memory. The chip is said to be running on a future high-end MacBook Pro, which will be equipped with the upcoming macOS 14 update. Apple is expected to unveil this update at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next month.

Before introducing the mentioned chip, Apple is yet to release the standard M3 chip, which will be followed by the M3 Pro and M3 Max variants. Gurman reveals that the company is actively working on new models for the iMac, MacBook Air, and low-end MacBook Pro, all featuring the M3 chip. He predicts that the first Macs equipped with the M3 chip will likely be launched towards the end of this year or early next year.

Meanwhile, Gurman also mentions the highly anticipated 15-inch MacBook Air, which is rumored to be released this summer and will be powered by the M2 chip. The announcement for this laptop was initially expected at WWDC, scheduled to kick off with Apple’s keynote on June 5.

Apple’s continuous development of high-performance chips signifies its commitment to pushing the boundaries of computing power. The company’s transition from Intel processors to its own Apple Silicon has showcased impressive performance gains, fueling anticipation for the future lineup of Mac devices. As WWDC approaches, Apple enthusiasts eagerly await further updates and insights into the company’s ambitious hardware plans.
