Tata Digital, the digital arm of Tata Group, is undergoing a significant reshuffle in its top management across various verticals, including its super app Tata Neu and ecommerce platform Tata CLiQ. Chief Strategy and Business Officer of Tata Neu, Shivcharan Pulugurtha, has recently left the company after just a year of joining. In his place, Gopal Asthana, former Chief Business Officer of Nykaa, has been appointed as the CEO of Tata CLiQ. The formal announcement of Asthana’s appointment is still pending.
Vinay Choletti, the former Head of WhatsApp Pay in India, has also joined Tata Digital, although an official announcement is yet to be made. Planning and strategy responsibilities, previously handled by Pulugurtha, are being divided among other executives, including Bhanu Prathak and Shoumyan Biswas. Prathak, who currently manages operations of key platforms within Tata Neu, is expected to take on additional responsibilities in Tata Neu’s business verticals. Biswas, currently the Marketing Head of Tata Neu, will lead the expansion of NeuPass, Tata Digital’s loyalty program.
According to sources, Tata Digital is expected to undergo further executive changes in the coming weeks. Several other key executives who joined Tata Digital following the appointment of Mukesh Bansal as President have also departed, likely linked to Bansal’s own exit from the organization. Bansal, who previously founded Myntra and co-founded Cult.fit, left earlier this year.
As Tata Digital aims to scale its operations after two years of establishment, it is likely that other senior executives within the organization will see a reshuffling of their roles. These changes align with Tata Group’s broader strategy to leverage the growth observed in April and May of this year, surpassing the previous quarter’s performance. Tata Digital CEO Pratik Pal stated in a previous interview that Tata Neu witnessed a surge in business after the app was revamped in time for the recently concluded IPL. The app saw 75 million NeuPass members, over 60 million app installs, and a significant number of repeat users.
Tata Group is reportedly considering a $2 billion investment in Tata Neu to strengthen its digital business and aims to achieve profitability in the coming years. As part of its diversification efforts, Tata Neu launched a reskilling vertical called NeuSkills in April, offering courses in data analytics, frontend development, and short-term programs for Google’s app-building software Flutter.
