A recent incident involving Swiggy’s Genie delivery service has left users apprehensive about the security of their delivered items. The incident came to light when a Swiggy user’s friend shared a distressing experience on Twitter. The user had sought assistance from Swiggy to retrieve his valuable Apple Watch Ultra but was shocked when the delivery person disappeared with the device.

The Unfortunate Turn of Events

The incident unfolded when the Swiggy user in Bengaluru accidentally left his Rs 82,999 Apple Watch Ultra at a friend’s place. Opting for Swiggy’s Genie service, which handles non-food deliveries, he expected a safe return of his watch. The delivery person arrived, collected the bag containing the watch, and seemingly set off for the destination. However, the situation took a surprising turn when the delivery person abruptly cancelled the order, cut off all communication, and vanished with the Apple Watch Ultra.

The Pursuit and Confrontation

Determined to recover the stolen watch, the Swiggy user and his friend tracked the location using an iPhone’s tracking feature. In the early hours of the morning, at 2 a.m., they successfully traced the delivery person to a Swiggy warehouse. Confronting the culprit, they caught him red-handed with the opened package and the Apple Watch Ultra.

Concerns and Response from Swiggy

This incident has raised concerns regarding the reliability and security of Swiggy’s Genie service, leaving users wary of potential theft and fraudulent practices. Swiggy has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. The victim’s friend mentioned on Twitter that the company instructed them to send an email after the delivery person stole the watch. There is currently no information regarding whether a formal complaint or FIR was filed by the victim.
