Share via:

In a joint effort with the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) under the Traffic Committee in Abu Dhabi, Deliveroo has launched a Rider Safety Programme. This new initiative aims to promote safe road practices and is part of Deliveroo’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being of its riders. The programme, developed by ITC, will enable Deliveroo supervisors to conduct training sessions for the entire fleet of delivery riders.

Prioritizing Rider Well-Being

The Rider Safety Programme covers various safety measures with the goal of reducing accidents and injuries. Training sessions will be conducted in Urdu and English, addressing important topics such as the significance of wearing protective gear, adhering to speed limits, understanding riding rules, practicing safe riding techniques, avoiding distractions, and refraining from reckless riding.

Delivery riders will also receive guidance on appropriate actions to take in the event of an accident and how to contact relevant authorities for assistance.

Deliveroo Commitment and Appreciation

Yazan Aburaqabeh, Head of Operations at Deliveroo, expressed appreciation for the continuous support from ITC Abu Dhabi in strengthening rider safety measures and conducting educational training sessions. Deliveroo acknowledges the crucial role played by its riders in daily operations and remains committed to prioritizing their safety and well-being. The company’s objective is to equip riders with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the roads safely while delivering food across the country.

ITC’s Contribution to Traffic Safety

Engineer Omar Al Shehhi, Head of Goods Transport Licensing Department, emphasized ITC’s active participation and follow-up on safety programs’ implementation. ITC provides continuous instruction and guidance courses for delivery riders. These courses align with the objectives of Goods Transport Regulation No. 74 of 2021. The objectives include ensuring traffic safety for motorcycle operators and road users. Additionally, they aim to organize the Goods Transportation Department in the emirate.

ITC closely monitors organizations to ensure they register and obtain necessary operational licenses through approved channels (Asateel).

Additional Support Initiatives for Deliveroo Riders

In addition to the Rider Safety Programme, Deliveroo has implemented various other delivery initiatives to support its riders. This includes providing a fleet of air-conditioned buses and coasters to ensure their comfort during transit. As well as designated rest areas in high-density rider zones. These efforts demonstrate Deliveroo’s commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for its valued delivery riders in Abu Dhabi.
