Just weeks after Twitter’s rebranding as ‘X’, Elon Musk has initiated an auction of various items from the company, as reported by BBC.com.

Unique Twitter Items Up for Auction

Among the 584 lots available for auction are coffee tables, outsized bird cages, and oil paintings featuring images that went viral, according to the report.

Assorted Furniture and Instruments Listed

The report mentioned that they have listed tens of desks and chairs, along with a DJ booth and musical instruments, for auction.

Twitter Auction Details and Minimum Price

Each lot at the auction has a minimum price of $25 (£19.70), as reported by auction house Heritage Global Partners. Bidding will start on September 12 and wrap up two days later.

Post-Acquisition Changes and Unique Auction Items

In 2022, Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion and has since reduced the company’s workforce to save money. The upcoming auction will include the Twitter sign attached to the San Francisco headquarters on 10th Street. Notably, the auction offers two oil paintings of famous Twitter photos: Ellen Degeneres’ star-studded selfie from the 2014 Academy Awards and the image tweeted by then-US President Barack Obama after his re-election in November 2012. A similar auction occurred earlier this year, featuring various items from Twitter’s San Francisco HQ. The highest bid reached $100,000 for a statue featuring the iconic bird logo. In July, Twitter changed its branding, replacing the blue bird logo with a new black and white ‘X’ design.
