Truecaller, the caller identification app, has introduced an innovative AI-driven feature named “Truecaller Assistant,” designed to assist users in handling incoming calls. This feature, which operates in Hindi, English, and the Indianised ‘Hinglish’ languages, can answer calls on the user’s behalf, providing a convenient way to manage their calls.

Real-Time Transcriptions and Android Availability

Truecaller Assistant offers real-time transcriptions of conversations between callers and the AI-powered bot. This transcription feature enhances the user experience by providing instant written records of phone interactions. Initially, this feature is accessible exclusively to Android users, with plans to extend its availability to iOS users in the near future.

Expansion Plans and Language Inclusion

After its initial launch in the United States, Truecaller Assistant has been introduced to various global markets. In the case of India, the feature has been tailored to address the local language preferences and will soon include additional Indian languages. The aim is to further enhance the capabilities of the assistant and cater to a broader user base.

Addressing Call Disturbances and Enhancing Call Management

Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Truecaller India MD, highlights that despite Truecaller’s effective spam call filtering, users still face disruptions from unwanted calls. The AI-powered assistant steps in to manage and alleviate such disturbances, providing users with more control over their call experiences.

Truecaller’s Strong Presence and Positive Outlook in India

India remains a crucial market for Truecaller, with the app surpassing 250 million active users in the country earlier this year. The Indian market contributes significantly to Truecaller’s revenue, accounting for over 75% of its total Q1 2023 revenue. The company’s CEO and co-founder, Alan Mamedi, expressed optimism about the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill passed by the Indian government, stating that Truecaller is committed to maintaining communication security while complying with the upcoming regulations. Mamedi’s assessment assures users that the new legislation will not significantly impact their experience with the app.
