Homegrown ecommerce platform Flipkart has announced the establishment of the RDC in Manesar aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and generating large-scale employment opportunities in the state.
According to the company’s statement, The centre spread across 140 acres, is expected to create over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, making a considerable contribution to local employment.
The facility will employ automation and retrieval systems
The Manesar facility will cater to a diverse range of products, including parcel goods, white goods, and furniture, and will employ automation and retrieval systems for modern warehousing.
The technology incorporated includes Automated Conveyors, Automatic Storage and Retrieval, Powered Spiral Conveyors, and Automatic Sortation Systems, ensuring robust and efficient operations.
As part of Flipkart’s sustainability goals, the Manesar RDC has received Platinum pre-certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). It features sustainability elements like rainwater harvesting and hardwood green spaces and has the capability to generate up to 20MWp of solar energy.
Flipkart launches new grocery FC in Sonipat
Alongside the RDC, Flipkart has also inaugurated a new grocery fulfilment centre (FC) in Sonipat, marking the expansion of its network in Haryana.
Flipkart said the new fulfilment centre, with a dispatch capacity of 23,000 orders per day, will create nearly 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region and will serve over 150 pin codes, ensuring seamless access to essential groceries in key areas.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal said, “This will also enable thousands of local sellers, MSMEs, and farmers to reach markets across the country. With the collaboration of companies like Flipkart, we are developing our national capital region as a warehousing and logistics hub.”
“Flipkart has generated more than 95,000 local jobs in Haryana, supported self-help groups and women entrepreneurs, and boosted local manufacturing. Flipkart has ensured the reach of thousands of sellers to the market through its supply chain in Haryana, as well as the ability to reach millions of customers across the country,” Manohar said.
According to Flipkart’s CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Flipkart is aimed at accelerating progress in India’s e-commerce landscape and the communities. He emphasized the company’s focus on enabling socio-economic development and improving the quality of life for the people in the state through resilient infrastructure and supply chain enhancements.
