In a strategic move to bolster its presence and operations in the Indian subcontinent, HP has announced the appointment of Ipsita Dasgupta as the Senior Vice President and Managing Director of HP’s India market. Dasgupta will take on the pivotal role of leading all aspects of HP’s strategy and profit and loss (P&L) in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. She will report directly to David McQuarrie, HP’s Chief Commercial Officer. This significant appointment comes as India continues to be a key growth area for HP.

Gurpreet Singh Brar, who had been serving as the interim Managing Director since November 2022, will transition to a new role as the Vice President of Innovation and Growth for HP’s India Market.

Commenting on Ipsita Dasgupta’s appointment, David McQuarrie, HP Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “India is a key growth area for HP, and I’m thrilled to welcome Ipsita to continue driving our traction and momentum in this dynamic market. With expertise across various industries, we have great confidence in her ability to hit the ground running and lead our business through the next phase of growth.”

In response to her new role, Ipsita Dasgupta shared her excitement, saying, “India is on a phenomenal journey of growth and the opportunity to lead HP’s business here, amidst the country’s digital transformation journey is very exciting.”

Ipsita Dasgupta brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously worked with tech giant Apple as the Senior Director of Marketing for Apple Services, based at Apple headquarters. In this capacity, she led Global Synergy Marketing, External Partnership Marketing, Consumer Insights, and Market and Competitive Intelligence for Apple’s subscription services.

Before her tenure at Apple, Dasgupta held executive positions in various multinational companies, including serving as the President of Corporate Strategy and Incubated Business at Star India, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, and as Chief Commercial Officer for South Asia and Greater China at General Electric Company (GE).

With 24 years of international operating experience across various industries, Dasgupta has spent more than half of her career leading profit and loss (P&L) units across multiple sectors, and the other half overseeing Marketing, Strategy, and Growth functions for global multinationals, both in business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) contexts, with regional and global responsibilities.

Ipsita Dasgupta holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Columbia University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
