SBI inks 2-year, ₹6 crore deal with MS Dhoni

State Bank of India (SBI), the largest commercial bank in the country, has recently announced a collaboration with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, appointing the cricket icon as their official “Brand Ambassador” for a fee of 6 crore. In his capacity as SBI’s brand ambassador, MS Dhoni will play a central role in the bank’s various marketing and promotional initiatives.

SBI highlighted Dhoni’s remarkable ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations and his well-known skill for making clear and quick decisions under stress, which aligns with SBI’s values and aims to connect with customers and stakeholders across the nation. 

Dinesh Khara, Chairman of SBI, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership. He stated, “We are pleased to onboard MS Dhoni as Brand Ambassador of SBI. Mr. Dhoni’s association with SBI as a satisfied customer makes him a perfect embodiment of our brand’s ethos. With this partnership, we aim to reinforce our commitment to serving the nation and our customers with trust, integrity, and unwavering dedication.”

During an event in Bengaluru, Dhoni also shared a personal insight, revealing that he had a premonition of his retirement from international cricket during the 2019 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup semifinal, which happened to be his last match for Team India. Notably, Dhoni has recently been appointed as the brand ambassador for JioMart, a venture by Reliance Industries Limited. This addition to his impressive list of brand endorsements in 2023 includes companies and products like Oreo, India Cements, Dream11, and Reebok
