Lockdown mode, introduced by Apple in 2022 with iOS 16, is an extreme security feature designed to protect against sophisticated cyberattacks. While phone calls and text messages still work, certain apps and features are restricted or unavailable, such as message attachments, web technologies, and FaceTime calls. Lockdown mode can be enabled through the Settings app on an iPhone.
