Beverage giant Coca-Cola India has marked its entry into the Indian government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) with the launch of its marketplace, the Coke Shop.

The move places the beverage giant among a growing list of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies embracing the ONDC network.

Expanding customer reach

According to the company, The Coke Shop marketplace is aimed at to empowering retailers by providing them with an additional channel to sell their products. Coca-Cola said it expects to facilitate multiple consumer touchpoints, enhancing the purchasing experience.

The company’s bottling partner, Moon Beverages Ltd, will serve as the ‘Network Participant’, ensuring seamless access to Coca-Cola’s beverage portfolio on the platform.

Focused on enhanced digital presence

To maximize its presence on the ONDC network, Coca-Cola India said it has partnered with SellerApp and nStore Technologies. SellerApp will assist Coca-Cola in leveraging the ONDC network with data-driven insights, market intelligence, and strategic approaches.

nStore Technologies will act as a ‘Technology Catalyst’, aiding retailers in their digital growth strategies and integrating digital order-to-delivery solutions.

What is the role of ONDC?

T Koshy, the MD and CEO of ONDC, said,“ We are happy to see Coca-Cola join our network on this transformative journey and give consumers an exceptional shopping experience while offering expanded choices for buyers on the network. At ONDC, we aim to empower local retailers, help them build digital visibility and boost their business. We look forward to potential participation from all businesses and all buyers in this network.”

Ambuj Deo Singh, Vice President Digital Acceleration Office, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said, “ONDC has truly democratised the e-commerce landscape by empowering sellers with greater access to digital markets. We are happy to be a part of this journey where the focus is on transforming the online marketplace by making it more inclusive and consumer-centric. We look forward to a continued association with ONDC.”
