Apple has told component suppliers to source batteries for iPhone 16 models from India, in an effort to diversify its global supply chain and reduce dependence on China. Chinese battery manufacturers, including Desay of China and Simplo Technology, have been encouraged to establish new factories or scale operations in India. In addition, Japanese electronic parts maker TDK Corp will manufacture lithium-ion battery cells for Apple iPhones in India, generating thousands of jobs.
