Muting conversations in Google Messages can be helpful to avoid distractions. Muted conversations won’t send notifications, won’t appear in home, and will be visually deprioritized. To mute a conversation on Android, find the conversation, touch and hold it, then tap “Mute”. On iPhone, swipe left on the conversation and tap the “Mute” icon. You can choose how long to mute the conversation. Once muted, you won’t receive notifications but can still see the conversation in your list. Manage muted conversations in Settings > Notifications > Muted conversations.
