The Hyderabad Auto and Taxi Drivers Association declared the launch of Yaary, an ONDC-based ride-hailing app challenging industry giants like Ola, Uber, and Rapido. Yaary onboarded over 20,000 auto and taxi drivers in Hyderabad, aiming to expand its reach by collaborating with driver associations across multiple cities.
Hari Prasadh, CEO & Cofounder of Yaary, highlighted the app’s driver-centric approach, emphasizing fair compensation and support for those powering the ride-hailing ecosystem. “Yaary is building for the drivers with the drivers. It has been developed with the core belief that the drivers who power the ride-hailing ecosystem deserve the utmost respect, support, and fair compensation,” Prasadh stated.
Similar to Bengaluru’s Namma Yatri, Yaary, backed by ONDC, commits to not charging any commission for drivers on its platform. Founded by Hari Prasadh, Madhan Balasubramanian, and Paritosh Verma, Yaary adheres to ONDC-established network standards, utilizing the open-source BECKN protocol.
Koshy T, MD & CEO of ONDC, hailed the nationwide growth of the initiative, citing Yaary’s promise of cost-effectiveness and rewards for service providers and customers in Hyderabad.
Auto or taxi drivers can join Yaary by downloading the Yaary Partner app for KYC verification. Customers can access Yaary Ride on Android and iOS devices via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Yaary’s launch arrives amid news of Namma Yatri and the Auto Drivers Union in Bengaluru parting ways, bringing attention to zero-commission models. Yaary mirrors this commitment, ensuring zero commission for drivers while facilitating peer-to-peer transactions. The platform charges a nominal SaaS fee, significantly lower than traditional aggregators, promoting fair and transparent earnings for drivers.
Additionally, Yaary offers drivers flexible schedules, responsive support, insurance for drivers and their families, and legal consulting support, setting a new industry standard.
Nanda Kishore of BMS Auto Union, Hyderabad, emphasized Yaary’s groundbreaking nature, empowering drivers by eliminating hefty commissions. “This marks a turning point in the industry, and we are proud to be a part of a service that not only prioritizes the well-being of our drivers but also delivers superior and reliable transportation services to our valued passengers,” Kishore stated.
