In 2023, Hyderabad topped OYO bookings followed by Bengaluru in India, while Uttar Pradesh emerged as the most visited state, trailed by Maharashtra. This revelation surfaced from OYO’s Travelopedia 2023, an annual travel trends index.

“Hyderabad emerged as the most booked city in India followed by Bengaluru, Delhi, and Kolkata,” stated OYO. Additionally, smaller towns like Gorakhpur, Digha, Warangal, and Guntur saw substantial year-on-year growth in bookings.

Regarding leisurely retreats, Jaipur claimed the lead as the most visited city in 2023, followed by Goa, Mysore, and Puducherry. On a spiritual note, Puri secured the top spot for bookings, followed by Amritsar, Varanasi, and Haridwar. “Lesser-known spiritual destinations like Deoghar, Palani, and Govardhan also witnessed a significant growth in visitors,” added OYO.

“Uttar Pradesh was the most booked state followed by Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh,” shared Shreerang Godbole, OYO’s Global Chief Service Officer. He highlighted 2023 as a pivotal year for travel, hinting at a potential return to normalcy post-COVID challenges.

“The pandemic-induced trend of exploring domestic destinations continues to dominate. Globally, leisure destinations drive travel growth, with a noteworthy contribution from business travel in India,” Godbole affirmed. The index pinpointed September 30 as the most booked day and May 2023 as the month with the highest bookings.

In the US, OYO highlighted Texas, Oregon, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Florida as the top five travelled states, with Houston, Tulsa, Irving, Oklahoma City, and Wade leading in cities. For the UK, London, Plymouth, Middlesbrough, Sheffield, and Eastbourne stood as top holiday destinations in 2023.

Exploring Europe, OYO identified Salzburg and Tyrol in Austria, West Flanders and Lige in Belgium, Blavand and Marielyst in Denmark, North Holland and Guelders in the Netherlands, and the Baltic Sea and North Sea regions in Germany as top destinations this year.

“Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Medan, and Yogyakarta emerged as the top five destinations in Indonesia for 2023,” OYO shared, highlighting booking trends. The Travelopedia 2023 collates global booking data from OYO’s expansive user base of over 93 million across various continents.
