Mahindra Last Mile Mobility partners with Attero for sustainable EV battery recycling

Indian electric 3-wheeler manufacturer Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML), a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, recently announced its partnership with Attero, a global leader in Lithium-ion battery recycling and e-waste management. 

The partnership aims to address the environmental challenges associated with the disposal of electric vehicle batteries.

Focus on sustainable practices

Mahindra said the partnership is a strategic move towards sustainable practices in the EV sector. MLMML, known for its range of Li-ion electric 3-wheelers including models like Treo, Treo Plus, and Zor Grand, is aligning with Attero’s expertise in recycling technology. Attero’s facility in Roorkee is recognized for its high recovery rate of precious materials from batteries.

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited is dedicated to electrifying the mobility landscape, focusing on electric 3- and 4-wheelers. The company’s product portfolio includes various fuel options, ranging from 3-wheelers like Treo and Zor Grand to the 4-wheeler SCV – Jeeto.

Offering e-waste management solutions

Attero Recycling offers end-to-end E-Waste management and Li-ion recycling solutions. Founded in 2008 by Rohan Gupta and Nitin Gupta, Attero said it is the only cleantech company globally capable of extracting pure critical metals from e-waste and Li-Ion waste, contributing significantly to the circular economy.

It has a state-of-the-art recycling plant in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, which is equipped to process various types of Lithium-Ion battery chemistry.
