India’s generative AI (GenAI) moment is well and truly here, and over the past few months we have seen this phenomenal growth in the AI startup ecosystem up close as we build up to The GenAI Summit in Bengaluru on April 3, 2024.

From a handful of native AI startups in 2022, over the past two years, we have seen an explosion of startups, India’s first AI unicorn, major funding rounds at the seed stage and plenty of attention from investors and enterprises. And what better place to showcase these applications and AI startups than at The GenAI Summit by Inc42.

India is home to over 100+ native GenAI startups as of October 2023, as per our analysis, and since then several more have emerged from stealth mode. The total funding for GenAI startups has grown to over $600 Mn since 2019.

In the grand scheme of the startup ecosystem, that’s not a major capital inflow, but as we have learnt from investors and startups over the past few weeks, that’s about to change. India’s VC ecosystem is excited about the possibilities of new business models and startups coming to the fray, banking on GenAI.

For instance, Arjun Rao, cofounder and general partner at deeptech-focussed Speciale Invest, believes that the application layer will see the highest number of startups, becoming an attractive area for VCs to invest in.

“We are very interested and exploring more in the application layer, which uses GenAI and other machine learning technologies for various use cases, helping to enhance productivity and efficiency of various functional units in businesses. The gamut of application layer AI companies that we are looking at seems fairly competitive,” Rao added

We are opening the stage for four native GenAI startups at the conference, who would have the opportunity to showcase and demo their tech and products to an highly curated and exclusive audience of 250+ individuals that are driving GenAI in India today.

The Indian tech ecosystem’s breadth and depth means that often innovation goes under the radar. To remedy this, Inc42 is keen on bringing the best AI innovators under the spotlight.

The GenAI Summit: What’s In Store

Given the broad and horizontal impact of generative AI, Inc42’s The GenAI Summit will not focus on any single or narrow aspect of GenAI, such as coding or LLMs, but will present a 360-degree outlook for enterprises, startups and investors.

Through 12+ sessions and live demos, we will explore the impact of GenAI on various industries like edtech, SaaS and ecommerce. Some of the most noted founders and CTOs in AI companies will decode the most cost-effective AI strategies for their businesses and understand how to lay the foundations for GenAI adoption, including bringing on board the right talent and leadership for AI operations.

We have curated sessions to help attendees navigate challenges around GenAI, such as regulations and privacy concerns, misinformation, and the malevolent use of AI.

The GenAI Summit will also cover the best standards for ethical AI practices and how startups can adopt them to avoid pitfalls. Stay tuned for a more in-depth look at the agenda and the speakers of The GenAI Summit.
