In a recent interaction with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared insights into his approach to relaxation and sustainability, shedding light on his deeply ingrained work ethic and commitment to both personal well-being and environmental conservation.

Acknowledging Prime Minister Modi as one of the “most hard-working leaders” globally, Bill Gates inquired about Modi’s methods of relaxation. In response, Modi expressed that relaxation occurs for him almost effortlessly, attributing it to his spiritual practices and his unwavering dedication to his mission.

“I feel a sense of relaxation that comes naturally to me. I find my inner peace through a spiritual practice instilled in me by my teachers, which energises me greatly,” PM Modi said, highlighting the intrinsic connection between his spiritual pursuits and his sense of peace.

Emphasizing the role of dedication in his life, Modi remarked, “This energy doesn’t come from physical strength, but from my dedication and my emotional connection to the mission at hand. My commitment to my mission keeps me going.”

Modi’s disciplined routine, honed over time, allows him to seamlessly navigate his responsibilities without the need for explicit relaxation techniques. “My body is now trained to what I do. For example, I can work late into the night and wake up early morning. I don’t have to make an extra effort to relax, it happens on autopilot,” he explained.

Reflecting on his experiences in the Himalayas, Modi recalled adhering to traditional practices such as bathing in the “Brahma Muhurat,” further illustrating the influence of his spiritual upbringing on his daily life.

“In the Himalayas, I followed the tradition of bathing in the Brahma Muhurat which is between 3:20 am and 3:40 am. These things have conditioned my body over time,” Modi shared, underscoring the significance of his cultural heritage in shaping his habits.

During the conversation, Modi also highlighted India’s cultural ethos of recycling and reusing materials, exemplified by his attire—a half-jacket crafted from recycled materials. He elaborated on the jacket’s origins, noting that it was made from waste cloth pieces collected from tailors’ shops and recycled plastic bottles.

“Recycling and Reusing are inherent to our nature. This jacket is made from recycled material,” Modi stated proudly, showcasing India’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

The dialogue between Modi and Gates, spanning 45 minutes, encompassed various topics including Artificial Intelligence, technology, and the Statue of Unity, offering insights into India’s development trajectory and its global partnerships.
