Freshworks Inc., a prominent cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider, has announced significant changes in its leadership team with the appointment of Dennis Woodside as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Girish Mathrubootham, the founder of Freshworks, will transition to the role of Executive Chairman.
In a recent social media announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Mathrubootham expressed his enthusiasm for this transition, stating, “After spending almost 14 years since founding Freshworks as a tiny startup in Chennai, to scaling it to be a global SaaS player and the first Indian SaaS company to list on Nasdaq, I’m excited to announce that I’m stepping into a new role as Executive Chairman of Freshworks. Woodside, who officially assumed the CEO position on May 1, 2024, shared his sentiments on LinkedIn, remarking, “Today I’m honored to step into the role of CEO at Freshworks. What Girish has created is truly special and I’m excited to build on what he started 14 years ago. Thank you, Girish, for your partnership and friendship over the last 18 months.”
He continued, emphasizing the company’s strategic direction under his leadership, “We stand before extraordinary opportunities and have the right foundation to make them possible – a winning combination of our focus on delighting customers and our product innovation. Woodside joined Freshworks in September 2022 as President, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his tenure at notable companies like Dropbox and Google, where he held senior executive roles.
