Growth marketing firm Pravis, floated by former Momspresso founders Vishal Gupta and Prashant Sinha, has bought an undisclosed stake in adtech gaming platform StreamO.

Through this acquisition, Pavis aims to target India’s burgeoning gaming sector, particularly the GenZ demographic.

Founded by Tushar Garg in 2021, StreamO connects brands with gamers and their live watchers. It already hosts more than 20,000 gamers on its platform, with its GenZ subscriber base exceeding 300 Mn.

“Gaming presents an unprecedented opportunity to reach the Gen-Z audience, a demographic that is notoriously difficult to engage through traditional media. With StreamO, we are positioned uniquely to leverage the explosive growth of live gaming platforms and the passionate GenZ communities they nurture,” Gupta said.

It is pertinent to note that D2C unicorn Mamaearth acquired Momspresso in 2021 and later shut down the venture due to the latter’s mounting losses.

After exiting Momspresso, Gupta and Sinha floated their own venture, Pravis, a platform that uses market-tested frameworks to deliver organic growth for brands.

“Drawing from our learnings from Momspresso’s MyMoney platform, we understand the dynamics of micro-influencer and brand interactions very well. With StreamO, we aim to apply these insights to expand and deepen our brand engagements by 10X in the next 12 months, said Sinha.

“StreamO has already set a benchmark in the gaming community by fostering authentic connections between brands and gamers,” said Garg.

StreamO also has partnerships with several top brands, including the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Intel, Sony PlayStation, OnePlus, Hero, Crocs, Taco Bell, and Spotify.

The development comes at a time when India’s gaming ecosystem is witnessing remarkable growth, with the advent of next-gen technologies like GenAI, cloud gaming and 5G among others.

As per Inc42’s analysis, there are more than 931 smartphone users in the country.

During the fiscal year ended March 2023 (FY23), the number of active gamers in India reached 568 Mn, 26% of which were paid users, as per a report by VC firm Lumikai.

This means that 6 out of 10 smartphone users in India are gamers, and many are willing to pay for it.

Recently, tech giant Meta’s India MD Sandhya Devanathan forecasted that the Indian gaming market may reach a valuation of $7.5 Bn and create 2.5 Lakh jobs by 2025.
