On May 23rd, 2024, Mobile Web Ghana and its partners launched the Online Work Africa Summit, targeting youth unemployment through online work opportunities. The event, attended by dignitaries and media representatives, highlighted the potential of online work in empowering African youth.
Florence Tofa, Director of Mobile Web Ghana, commenced the event with an opening remark which emphasized commitment to equipping youth with essential digital skills. Liza Steger, Regional Public Engagement Specialist at the US Embassy in Ghana, noted that the initiative aligns with the US Embassy’s focus on skills building and sustainable opportunities for young people.
An overview of the Online Work Africa initiative was provided, stressing its goals and the urgent need to tackle youth unemployment. Testimonials from individuals who have gained economic empowerment through online work showcased the initiative’s real-world benefits.
The event concluded with a Q&A session addressing participants’ concerns about online job payment and withdrawal processes.
