Visa processing platform Atlys has acquired visa service company Artionis’ UK subsidiary in an all-cash deal to expand overseas.
In a statement, Atlys said that the acquisition of Artionis UK, which is known for its exclusive rights in processing UK-to-Russia visas, will add to its technical capabilities in the European market.
It said that the deal will allow it to reduce visa paperwork and offer timely services to the travellers in the UK, followed by plans to expand in similar European markets, including Germany and France.
Headquartered in Switzerland, Artionis is a premium outsourcing partner for governments worldwide, present in 25 countries with 400 employees across 65 offices. Atlys has acquired the UK branch of the company, which operates from London, Edinburgh, and Manchester.
Commenting on the acquisition, Atlys founder and CEO Mohak Nahta told Inc42, “Our platform is designed to make international travel accessible to everyone, regardless of their passport strength, and the UK’s strategic position will help us extend this impact across Europe.”
Besides Europe, Atlys is also expanding in the UAE and Australia, Nahta said.
The acquisition comes a few months after Atlys bagged $20 Mn in its Series B funding round, which was co-led by Peak XV Partners and Elevation Capital. Back then, the startup said that it would utilise the capital to fuel expansion, enter new markets, and scale operations globally.
Founded by Nahta in 2020, Atlys is an online visa platform that claims to ensure on-time delivery of visas. It facilitates e-visa applications for more than 100 countries from India, including destinations like the UAE, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Argentina, Russia, and Sri Lanka.
Besides visa service, Atlys also claims to offer other global travel solutions, including eSIMs, forex, and travel insurance.
Overall, the startup has raised more than $48 Mn till date.
