US-based cab aggregator firm, Uber, is launching a ride-sharing service in India, starting with Assam, where people with private cars will be able to operate rides through the app. Globally, in most jurisdictions, including the US, the UK and Australia, Uber is allowed to onboard private car owners as taxi operators – and the company has been pushing for the same in India as well.
