Google ending updates for 1st, 2nd gen Nest Learning Thermostats

Later this year, Google will stop supporting the 1st and 2nd generation Nest Learning Thermostat. This will result in a trio of changes, though Google is offering upgrade discounts to existing owners.

The first Nest thermostats date back to 2011, with a 2nd gen coming in 2012. Google says it “has become increasingly challenging to continue to update these products given the early hardware.”

Starting October 25, 2025, the following three models will stop receiving software…
