Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal on Saturday firmly rejected claims that the company is losing market share or forcing employees to exclusively order from its platform. His clarification came after a viral Reddit post, allegedly written by a Zomato employee, raised concerns about internal company practices and competitive pressures.

The anonymous post alleged that Zomato is losing ground to competitors like Zepto Cafe and Swiggy. It claimed that employees were required to place at least seven orders per month via Zomato, with internal tracking to enforce compliance, and that ordering from rival platforms like Swiggy was banned within office premises.

The post also described a toxic workplace culture, linking it to the sudden departure of Rakesh Ranjan, the former CEO of Zomato’s food delivery division, following a recent town hall meeting.

Responding on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Goyal dismissed the allegations as “utter nonsense.” He emphasized that Zomato is not losing market share and that the company would never force employees to order from its platform. “Freedom of choice is something we stand for vehemently,” he stated.

The whistleblower suggested deeper systemic issues within Zomato, pointing again to alleged mandatory ordering practices and monitoring, although Zomato’s leadership has categorically denied these accusations.
