Thiruvananthapuram-Born Founder’s Kawa Space Emerges as Key Intelligence Player in Operation Sindoor
As India executed Operation Sindoor along its western frontier, a surprising yet crucial contributor rose to prominence—Kawa Space, a spacetech startup founded by Kris Nair from Thiruvananthapuram. While social media was flooded with unverified information, Kawa Space became a trusted source of satellite intelligence, offering clear, high-resolution imagery of Pakistani targets struck during the operation.
The startup’s updates, especially those shared via X (formerly Twitter), gained widespread credibility. Their satellite visuals were cited by respected defence platforms like Alpha Defence, helping validate India’s strategic claims and offering a transparent view into the ongoing campaign.
In one of his recent posts, Nair teased a powerful upcoming update with poetic flair, alluding to Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, a region speculated to contain nuclear assets. Though it’s unclear if this location was involved in the operations, the cryptic post stirred intense speculation and highlighted the growing role of India’s private space sector in national defence.
Founded in March 2019, Kawa Space initially focused on geospatial tech but has since pivoted to become a dedicated intelligence and defence space company. “We don’t do civilian stuff anymore,” Nair stated, underscoring the firm’s shift towards security operations.
Beyond its commercial ambitions, Kawa Space operates with a deep sense of national duty. According to the company, its team includes veterans who have served across various defence sectors—pilots, naval commanders, and seasoned intelligence experts.
In an age where disinformation spreads quickly, Kawa Space’s factual, image-backed reports have earned trust from journalists, policy experts, and defence analysts. As the fog of war clouds facts on the ground, this startup is offering clarity—one satellite image at a time.
