Zomato has reportedly introduced a new “long distance service fee” for food deliveries exceeding 4 km, according to a report by The Economic Times citing internal sources.
Customers will now be charged an additional INR 15 for deliveries between 4–6 km, provided the order value exceeds INR 150. For deliveries beyond 6 km, the extra charge will range between INR 25 to INR 35, depending on the city.
While Zomato has informed its restaurant partners that the total service fees — including the new distance-based charge — will be capped at 30% (excluding other applicable costs), some restaurant owners claim that the actual commission fees could reach up to 45%.
As of 12:01 PM, Zomato’s stock was trading slightly lower by 0.28% at INR 229.35 on the BSE, down from its previous close of INR 230.
