OpenAI has begun rolling out memory upgrades for free ChatGPT users, giving them access to a feature that was previously exclusive to paid subscribers: the ability for the chatbot to remember details from past conversations and deliver more personalised, context-aware replies.

Announced in an X (formerly Twitter) post by OpenAI on Tuesday, the update means free-tier users will now benefit from short-term memory improvements, allowing the AI to recall recent chat history to offer continuity and more tailored assistance.
