Counterpoint Research has lowered its 2025 global smartphone shipment growth forecast to 1.9% year-on-year, down from the previously estimated 4.2%, citing growing uncertainties around US trade tariffs and softening demand in major markets like North America and China.

According to the firm’s latest Market Outlook Smartphone Shipment Forecast Report, most other regions are still expected to see growth, driven by sustained demand in emerging markets and resilient performance by key players like Apple and Huawei.
