Blinkit Dark Store in Pune Shut Down Over Safety Violations, Disrupts Deliveries and Sparks FDA Crackdown

Share via:

On June 5, 2025, the Maharashtra FDA ordered the immediate shutdown of a Blinkit dark store in Pune’s Balewadi locality, citing the absence of a valid food safety license and breaches of hygiene regulations under the Food Safety & Standards Act. Operated by Energy Darkstore Services, the store’s closure caused major disruptions for both delivery partners and customers. Nearly 40 delivery workers were hastily shifted to other locations such as Sus Gaon and Pashan, resulting in delivery delays, unfamiliar routes, reduced income, and tension with existing local teams. Residents of Baner experienced slower deliveries, further highlighting the impact. Following this, the FDA began surprise checks on other quick-commerce stores across Pune, cautioning that any regulatory violations may lead to additional closures.
