Mobility company Rapido is all set to wade into the food delivery market, a duopoly firmly ruled by Zomato and Swiggy. While the company has the fleet management knowhow and tech backbone needed to make a dent in the sector, brokerages are of the view that it will have its task cut out to attract customers, and will need to lean heavily on discounts. At the same time, they say, it may not have to spend as much to promote itself and create awareness, given that the incumbents had paved that ground, spending huge sums in their early years.
