The government on Wednesday approved a Rs 417 crore electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC 2.0) to be set up at Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at boosting local innovation and manufacturing.

The cluster is expected to attract investment of Rs 2,500 crore, the electronics and information technology ministry said in a statement.

It will support manufacturing in consumer electronics, automotive and industrial electronics, medical devices, computer hardware and communication equipment.
