WhatsApp to soon let users seamlessly switch between two accounts in one app

Share via:

WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will let users add and switch between two accounts—like one for personal use and another for work—within the same app. This will remove the need to log out, use WhatsApp Business separately, or juggle multiple devices.

This new multi-account option, which is currently being tested in beta for iOS, includes an “Account List” section in the Settings menu. There, users can view all linked accounts with profile pictures and names and easily switch between them, much like how Instagram’s account switcher works.

Each account will have its own chat history, notification settings, backups, and auto-download preferences, keeping everything separate and organized. Notifications will clearly show which account a message is for, and tapping them will open the right chat under the right account automatically.

The feature is still in development, so even beta testers don’t have full access yet, and there’s no official launch date. But it’s expected to roll out in the coming months, making it much simpler for people to manage multiple WhatsApp accounts on one device.
