Alpibio (314140), a specialized company in the contract development and manufacturing of general pharmaceuticals and health functional foods, announced on the 2nd that it has acquired the first domestic patent ( registration number 10-2819019, brand name : Duomega Pro ) for a complex formulation of probiotics and functional oils in Korea .
This patent concerns a multi-functional soft capsule that simultaneously encapsulates lactic acid bacteria and high-content edible oil , while maintaining the survival of the lactic acid bacteria for 18 months at room temperature (1~35 ℃ ) . It is evaluated as an achievement that overcomes the technological limitations of the existing market where lactic acid bacteria were vulnerable to heat, making long-term distribution difficult .
This product contains various heat-sensitive lactic acid bacteria such as Lactobacillus , Lactococcus , Enterococcus , Streptococcus, and Bifidobacterium , and has secured thermal stability through Alpibio’s own low-temperature mixing method and air blocking design technology .
In addition , the enteric-coated soft capsule technology protects the lactic acid bacteria so that they can survive even in an acidic stomach environment (pH 1.2) , and since both the functional oil and the lactic acid bacteria are designed to be released only in the intestines, the bioavailability has been shown to be more than three times higher than that of general capsules .
The product is designed to maintain the content fluctuation rate during storage at 0.3% or less, making it suitable for long-term distribution and export , and can contain up to 100 billion colony forming units (CFU) of lactic acid bacteria per capsule, making it suitable for high-content complex formulation products .
In particular, EPA/DHA and lactic acid bacteria are attracting attention as a combination that can increase the activity of lactic acid bacteria through a complementary synergistic effect and contribute to the expansion of the functional product market for enhancing immunity in the body .
