  • Technosport’s upcoming factory will be part of a world-class industrial estate
  • Currently commanding a 10% share in India’s value activewear segment, TechnoSport’s decision to expand into Odisha stems from the state’s abundant availability of skilled women workforce

National, 29, July, 2025: In a significant boost to Odisha’s textile and employment landscape, TechnoSport, India’s fastest-growing activewear brand, on 25th July signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha during the Odisha-Tex 2025 event. The agreement formalized in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Manjhi, states that TechnoSport will invest ₹100 crore over the next three years to set up a state-of-the-art activewear manufacturing facility in Odisha.

This landmark initiative is expected to generate employment for over 1,000 workers, contributing significantly to the state’s vision of industrial growth and inclusive development. Technosport’s upcoming factory will be part of a world-class industrial estate, equipped with plug-and-play infrastructure. The estate is projected to:

  • Create 20,000+ direct jobs
  • Enable $100 million+ in exports
  • Generate over ₹7,000+ crore in domestic revenues

Speaking on the MoU, Sunil Jhunjhunwala, Co-Founder & Managing Director, TechnoSport, said, “This investment in Odisha is more than a factory, it’s a blueprint for the future of Indian manufacturing. As demand for high-performance, affordable activewear accelerates across India and global markets, we’re building the infrastructure, talent, and ecosystem needed to lead that charge. Odisha offers the perfect confluence of skilled workforce, supportive governance, and scalable industrial vision, and we’re proud to be part of shaping that future.

Currently commanding a 10% share in India’s value activewear segment, TechnoSport’s decision to expand into Odisha stems from the state’s abundant availability of skilled workforce, especially in apparel manufacturing, alongside proactive, industry-friendly policies and transparent governance. Additionally, the brand’s recently concluded trade show, Techno Samavesh 2025, also saw encouraging participation from over 600+ retailers, positioning the Odisha market as a key growth driver in the brand’s expansion journey.

Beyond direct employment, the estate will also feature a training center in collaboration with a local university, enabling workers to pursue technical education alongside their jobs, empowering them with degrees, upskilling, and career mobility. The plug and play infrastructure from the government, will enable a ‘Smart Factory’, incorporating reasonable semi-automation and robust traceability for garment production. It will operate on renewable energy sources, with a target of employing over 80% women. Furthermore, all fabric waste generated will be sent for closed-loop recycling. This project represents a win-win for both the state and TechnoSport, fostering skill development, employment, and mutual growth.

With a rapidly expanding footprint across India and rising demand, TechnoSport’s Odisha factory aligns seamlessly with its long-term strategy. As the brand opens more exclusive brand outlets and scales its presence, the need for enhanced fabric and garment manufacturing capacity becomes mission-critical.
