Trump Tariffs: No immediate impact on India’s smartphone, laptop exports, say sources

Despite a 25% tariff announcement by US President Donald Trump targeting a range of electronics, Indian exports of smartphones, laptops and tablets to the US remain unaffected for now, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The US had granted a 90-day exemption period on these categories of electronics, allowing exporters from India to continue shipments without attracting the elevated duties. These exemptions, which began earlier this year, are set to expire on August 14.
