Uber is turning its 1.4 million driver partners in India into a workforce for its newest bet: AI data labelling.

In a dozen cities – including large markets such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, as well as smaller cities like Pune, Bhopal, Vizag and Jaipur – drivers can now earn extra by completing micro tasks on the Uber app, like tagging objects in photos, for the company’s data-labelling platform, Uber AI Solutions, its executives said.
