When I downloaded iOS 26 and saw the completely new Liquid Glass look for the iPhone, I had some strong feelings about it. It wasn’t long before I realized that Safari had undergone some of the most dramatic changes. I was baffled.

What happened to the old, full-size toolbar with the Bookmarks and All Tabs icons? Those UI elements have been present in every iOS version of Safari since the very first iPhone in 2007. I can appreciate the extra screen space I get with this new Compact toolbar layout, but…
