The United Diplomatic Council (UDC) successfully concluded its 6th Global Discussion in Abu Dhabi, bringing together diplomats, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance dialogue on Energy and Climate Diplomacy. The session emphasized the rising urgency of sustainable energy transitions and the need for coordinated climate action among nations.

A central highlight was the participation of Mr. Ankit Jain, recently appointed Honorary Trade Commissioner for the India EU Trade Council. Widely regarded for his work in international trade facilitation and sustainability-driven policy engagement, Mr. Jain provided an in-depth perspective on strengthening UAE–EU cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, green technology, and climate innovation. He highlighted the expanding scope for joint research, clean energy investments, and cross-border technology transfer—areas where the India–EU Trade Council plays a significant enabling role. His appointment is seen as a milestone in advancing India–EU–UAE trilateral cooperation with a strong sustainability lens.

Other dignitaries, including H.E. T.P. Seetharam, Former Ambassador of India to the UAE, and H.E. Lovemore Mazemo, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to the UAE, echoed the strategic importance of global energy partnerships and Africa’s emerging renewable energy potential.

The UDC’s international engagement continued as the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) participated in the 7th Global Discussion Series in Brussels, Belgium. The gathering at the Brussels Parliament featured EU-level deliberations led by Ms. Angelika Niebler, Member of the European Parliament responsible for India–EU relations, and Mr. Vladimir Prebilič, Member of Parliament. Organized in collaboration with the Europe India Centre for Business & Industry (EICBI), the session focused on enhancing India–EU strategic, economic, and institutional cooperation.

Representing India, Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of IETO, joined diplomatic delegations and business leaders from more than 20 countries.

Mr. Ankit Jain also contributed meaningfully to the Brussels discussions, offering insights into global climate challenges, the future of renewable energy collaborations, and the need for harmonized regulatory frameworks to accelerate sustainable development. He emphasized the importance of creating integrated green value chains between India, the EU, and the Middle East, noting that climate diplomacy must translate into practical, market-driven solutions. His interventions were well received for their clarity, strategic foresight, and focus on actionable cooperation models.

Across both Abu Dhabi and Brussels, Mr. Jain’s participation underscored his growing role as a key facilitator of dialogue between government institutions, diplomatic communities, and business networks in the sustainability and trade ecosystem.

Both sessions reinforced the significance of aligning economic diplomacy with environmental stewardship, developing new trade avenues, and building frameworks that support long-term cross-border cooperation.

Keeping the momentum strong, the UDC announced its upcoming global sessions in Malaysia on 23rd November 2025, followed by the next series in Doha, Qatar, continuing its mission to promote inclusive, multi-sectoral, and forward-thinking global dialogue.
