Equirus InnovateX Fund has participated in the seed round of Neverinstall, a browser-native Cloud PC platform targeting enterprises seeking alternatives to legacy VDI solutions such as VMware and Citrix
India-focused venture capital firm Equirus InnovateX Fund has invested in the seed round of Neverinstall, a Bengaluru-based enterprise technology startup building browser-native virtual desktops for modern, distributed workforces.
The investment comes amid a broader reset in the global Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) market, as enterprises reassess the cost, rigidity, and operational complexity of legacy platforms that have dominated the category for over a decade.
Moving beyond legacy VDI economics
Traditional VDI deployments, often anchored to vendors such as VMware and Citrix, can cost enterprises upwards of $2,000–3,000 per user annually. These systems typically require specialised hardware, complex provisioning, and long-term vendor lock-in, while still struggling to deliver consistent performance across distributed teams.
Neverinstall positions itself as a fundamentally different alternative. Founded in 2021 by Ram and Lakshman Pasala, the company decouples the operating system from hardware, allowing users to access full cloud desktops and applications directly through a web browser, thin client, mobile app, or native desktop client.
Its proprietary CloudLink architecture enables low-latency desktop streaming without local installations, making it suitable for GPU virtualisation, application streaming, BYOD environments, and remote teams operating on consumer-grade internet connections.
Where the funding will be deployed
The seed capital will be used to deepen Neverinstall’s infrastructure stack and expand its enterprise security offerings. Key initiatives include the development of a Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) platform that supports a “Bring Your Own Infrastructure” (BYOI) model, allowing enterprises to deploy the platform on commodity hardware rather than proprietary systems.
Another focus area is an enterprise secure browser, embedded with an eBPF-based security layer, aimed at regulated industries such as BFSI and healthcare, where data control and compliance are critical.
Investor perspective
Commenting on the investment, Sunder Nookala, General Partner at Equirus InnovateX Fund, said:
“The enterprise desktop market is going through a fundamental reset. As hybrid work becomes the default, organisations are questioning the cost, rigidity and complexity of legacy VDI platforms. Neverinstall stands out for its browser-native, cloud-agnostic approach that materially lowers total cost of ownership while improving performance and user experience. This aligns strongly with EIF’s focus on backing founders who are re-architecting core enterprise systems for the next decade.”
EIF typically backs post-product companies building core enterprise and infrastructure technologies, with a focus on defensible platforms and long-term category leadership.
Founder view and early traction
Neverinstall says it has recorded threefold growth in FY26 and is building a strong enterprise pipeline for FY27. The platform is already used by organisations including Tally, Porter, Alliance Broadband, and Primebook, supporting thousands of employees across diverse use cases.
Lakshman Pasala, Co-Founder and CEO of Neverinstall, said:
“Traditional desktop virtualisation is broken for modern enterprises—it’s expensive, inflexible, and complex to run at scale. We took a different path by building a unified stack from the ground up, backed by years of deep R&D across streaming, infrastructure orchestration, and security. EIF’s investment validates our belief that enterprises want technology that truly works, without vendor lock-in.”
The company estimates the total addressable market across VDI, DaaS, and GPU virtualisation at $21–23 billion globally, much of which remains dominated by legacy architectures.
Strengthening go-to-market execution
To support its next growth phase, Neverinstall has appointed Ramesh Gopal Krishna as Chief Revenue Officer. Krishna brings over 25 years of enterprise sales experience from companies including Microsoft, Meta, and Salesforce.
With new capital, leadership, and growing enterprise adoption, Neverinstall aims to evolve from a Cloud PC provider into a full-stack workspace orchestration platform, targeting enterprises in India and international markets seeking simpler, more flexible ways to deliver secure digital workspaces.
