Indian pet nutrition startup Benny’s Bowl has raised $1.4 million in a Pre-Series A round led by Atomic Capital to expand R&D, launch new product lines, and scale distribution.
India’s pet care market is entering a more specialized phase.
Benny’s Bowl has raised $1.4 million in a Pre-Series A round led by Atomic Capital, as it seeks to address what it describes as nutritional gaps in the domestic pet food segment.
The funding will be deployed toward research and development, new product launches, geographic expansion across metro and Tier I and II cities, and strengthening both online and offline distribution channels.
Moving beyond generic pet food
India’s pet adoption rates have risen steadily since the pandemic, fueling demand for premium and specialized nutrition. However, much of the domestic market remains dominated by mass-market, imported, or formulation-light products.
Benny’s Bowl is positioning itself around functional and clinical nutrition, targeting concerns such as gut health, allergies, renal support, skin and coat care, and weight management.
The company recently introduced functional formulations designed to address these specific health areas.
Benny’s Bowl Expansion into cat nutrition and supplements
The new capital will support the launch of additional categories, including protein supplements for pets and fresh cat food—segments that remain underpenetrated in India compared with Western markets.
Meal toppers and specialized supplements are also part of the roadmap, reflecting a broader trend toward customization and preventative nutrition in pet care.
The strategy aligns with consumer shifts toward ingredient transparency and science-backed formulations.
Growth metrics and ambitions

Founder Akshay Gupta said the company recorded 2x revenue growth over the past 12 months, with 85% of revenue coming from repeat customers—an indicator of product stickiness in a category where lifetime value can be significant.
Benny’s Bowl is targeting ₹100 crore in annual recurring revenue by FY2027.
Such targets place it among a new wave of D2C pet brands attempting to scale into structured, omnichannel consumer businesses.
Investor thesis: an under-served opportunity
Atomic Capital’s Managing Partner Apoorv Gautam described pet nutrition as a large, under-served segment in India.
While online pet marketplaces have increased access to products, few brands focus on everyday health concerns backed by clinical positioning.
The fund, launched in 2024, follows an operator-first model, working closely with founders to scale consumer and consumer-tech brands.
Competitive and structural context
India’s pet care industry is projected to expand as disposable incomes rise and urban households increasingly treat pets as family members.
However, competition is intensifying, with both international brands and domestic startups targeting premiumization.
For Benny’s Bowl, execution will hinge on distribution scale, regulatory compliance in health claims, and maintaining quality control as volumes grow.
Building category leadership
Functional pet nutrition remains early-stage in India but shows parallels to human wellness trends—where supplements, specialized diets, and ingredient transparency gained mainstream adoption over time.
If consumer education efforts succeed, the brand may benefit from first-mover advantage in clinically positioned pet diets.
The $1.4 million round is modest by global standards, but in India’s emerging pet nutrition landscape, it signals investor confidence that the category is transitioning from niche to scalable consumer vertical.
