While the number of female scientists and engineers across Europe has more than doubled since 2008, Luxembourg continues to lag behind in closing its gender gap in STEM.
The total number of women scientists and engineers in the EU27 rose 132% from 3.4 million in 2008 to 7.9 million in 2024. In 2024, four out of every ten scientists and engineers were women, according to Eurostat.
