Apple’s hardware boss John Ternus has emerged as the leading internal candidate to succeed Tim Cook as chief executive of the company, as a wave of senior leadership changes sparked speculation on who might step in if and when Cook retires.
The 65-year-old has led Apple since succeeding co-founder Steve Jobs in 2011.
Although he may not be planning to leave the ship anytime soon, Cook has hinted that he prefers a successor from within the company so he could mentor them to step into his role.
