Tanzania, with a population of roughly 60 million and an average real GDP growth rate of +5.5% over the decade 2012-2021, is among the fastest-growing economies in Africa and the world. The value of Tanzania's GDP at current prices reached USD 75.71 billion in 2022.
The Public Transportation market in Tanzania is projected to grow by 6.64% (2024-2028) resulting in a market volume of US$339.10m in 2028. As of now the road network is 86,472 kilometres as both trunk and regional roads. The rail network consists of 3,682 km of track. There are 28 airports with Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) being the largest and busiest. The air transport sub-sector (aviation industry) in Tanzania has been steadily growing, with an average growth rate of 9% annually while the global growth rate is at 4%.
The only other country in Sub Saharan Africa permitting competition in its airspace after South Africa makes it a lucrative destination for investment. Key investments in rail and road sector are making it a potential destination for foreign trade.
